Q&A with the director Lorraine Féline.

Lorraine Félines work has mainly developed around film making, performances and drawings. She holds a degree in art from Strasbourg’s École Supérieure des Arts Décoratifs, and has also studied video at the Hochschule für die Kunste at Bremen, in Germany. In addition to this, she has trained in classical and contemporary dance; and this interest in dance, gesture and movement converges with the focal points of her work.

Her work start from meetings with people or environments, and she wants to show these people engaged in their activities.

Her work has been shown at Palais de Tokyo, galerie du jour agnès b., galerie Air de Paris, Centre d’art de L’Onde de Vélizy-Villacoublay, maison des arts de Malakoff…) and festivals as London International Documentary Festival (UK), San Francisco Dance Film Festival (USA), Festival Kyotographie, Kyoto (JPN), Filmer Le Travail, Poitiers, (FR), Festival Filmer le Travail 2014, Poitiers, Compétition internationale (Fr),  Cinema Appolo, Carte blanche à Nicolas Feodoroff, 2013, Pontault-Combault (Fr),  Solo exhibition, “Le Ballet mécanique” and La Boîte, Micro-Onde-Centre d’art de l’Onde, 2013 Velizy-Villacoublay (Fr).

The Mechanical Ballet. Shot in London inside of a pointe shoes factory, which are shoes worn by classical dancers. The film focuses in particular on gesture of the workers, and the mechanics that are implemented in the manufacture of a future dance tool. Director: Lorraine Féline.
